The Travelling Kitchen was set up by Sarah and Clare four years ago. They met at the school gate when both their daughters started at primary school and they began cooking at school events and planning a school garden.
Sarah started cooking in her local pub in Wales when she was 16. A year spent teaching in Kenya and a career working in overseas development led to a life-long passion for Africa, travel and the food of other cultures. After a degree in English Sarah went on to work for various development organisations including The British Council, Tree Aid and Motivation. Sarah has lived in Bristol for over 20 years and loves to cook food from around the world for her three children and friends and family.
Having trained as a history teacher, Clare taught for 12 years in London and Bristol. As a member of a touring theatre group, Clare led drama workshops in local communities around the south-west. Passionate about the concept of plot to plate, she spends much of her spare time tending her allotment and turning produce into delicious creations. Her love of cooking started when Clare became a vegetarian and was determined to cook anything but nut roasts.
